Annual Cableway Maintenance

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has an annual maintenance shutdown. It is closed for a period of a few weeks every year during the low tourism season, for maintenance and upgrades to ensure the safety and efficiency of the operation. Visitors are advised to check the cableway’s schedule for any planned maintenance shutdowns before planning their visit.

Cableway Annual Maintenance 2024

In 2024, Cableway plans to extend its annual maintenance shutdown for a period of 7 weeks. From July 15, 2024, until September 1, 2024, Table Mountain Aerial Cableway will be closed for an extended yearly maintenance closure. If the weather permits, it will be re-opened on Monday, September 2, 2024. According to international norms, the prolonged closure is consistent with the maintenance programme. In addition to updating stores and the Upper and Lower Stations’ appearance and atmosphere, a lot of work will be done on the ropes and cable cars. With these adjustments, we can guarantee that when we re-open, visitors will have an even greater experience. Visitors must please plan their holidays and trips up Table Mountain accordingly.
